Trying to Find my Voice

Many of the successful blogs I read always seem to have “earth-shattering” information. Teachers find new tools to share and reasons to use technology in their classrooms. Food and fitness bloggers always seem to have the latest amazing workout or the new yummiest recipe that they’ve just whipped up out of nowhere.

I’m just this person, writing a blog about learning.

Now, I’m not saying that I feel like I don’t have anything interesting to share. My days are full of sharing information and learning with my students, and I really have a fun time with them. (Even on days when there’s a full moon and it feels like everyone is just going CA-RAZAY! Ahem, last Monday.)

I need to remember that I have one of many unique voices in education.  No situation is exactly like mine — I have things to share… like how four of my students just decided that putting their sweatshirt hoodies on and pulling the strings as tight as possible was hilarious. No, really, that was just funny.  What was really interesting this morning was the discussion we had after watching CNN Student News about whether or not school is supposed to take away the focus of electronics, or if we can actually use electronic devices as tools to help us in our learning.

Speaking of using technologies in education, we (hopefully) will get into the swing of using Artsonia to showcase our school’s artwork this year.  I’m giving a presentation on it at our next staff meeting.  My principal asked me to do a demo of something else too, but I haven’t decided what I’d like to do yet.  I’d love to hear input if you have any!

Until next time, keep a song in your heart!
