The title of this post is what my mother said to me when I used FaceTime to call her and wish her a happy Mother’s Day. (My mom and mother-in-law both live over 7 hours away from where my husband and I live, so it wasn’t possible for us to get away for the weekend.) What she said was true, though.
Last week, my husband and I adopted Buttercup (whom we have renamed “Vivenna“) from one of the local humane societies. She’s a wonderful Tortoiseshell kitty. So, happy Mother’s Day to me, even if it is a cat. 🙂
I have certainly been keeping busy lately. There was not a post last Thursday because I was not at school. We took the 7th and 8th graders to Wisconsin Lutheran High School for the annual principal’s conference track meet. We took 2nd in our division. It is certainly awesome to watch some of my students run! I marvel at the athletic ability God has given them, and then thank God that I have book smarts. I am definitely not an athlete, but give me a typing contest or a book-reading contest and I’ll smoke ya! 🙂 Here’s a picture of one of my students running the 200m race. We also had our Trinity Track Invitational on Saturday. We took 3rd there. It was a long day of competition, but it was fun to volunteer and help out.
This week is pretty nutso, too. There are a ton of field trips happening, and the Athletic Banquet is tonight (where they get all their ribbons), and then on Wednesday, I am giving the presentation on the Chromebooks for next year. Hopefully all goes over well and parents will be on board with the idea.
Oh, did I mention I’m also starting to draft my thesis for my Masters program? Just to make things a little more crazy. 🙂
It just goes to remind me of the long note paper that I remember taped to my Mom’s refrigerator. On it, she wrote all the verses to the hymn, “With the Lord begin your task…” (Yes, I am taking “Keep a song in your heart” … to heart!) God will help all of us teachers stay sane in the last few weeks of school. As long as we know we tried our best, it doesn’t matter if we didn’t get to that last obscure topic we wanted to get covered. God’s will be done, through us, and in spite of us!
