About Me (Part 2)

Hi everybody!

School has started again, and we have two days down… boy, am I exhausted! But, it’s a good exhausted. Our classroom has been abuzz for the last two days. I “stole” an idea for my room this year from one of the blog posts over at Edutopia. The biggest thing I pulled from that post was the concept of ‘roomination.’ I had so many things on my plate as the summer came to an end, decorating was one of the last things that I was thinking about. For as much panic as I had about giving up that much control of my room, I thought it would be a good idea to get the students working together after a summer-length break. They are working really well together, and I’m excited to share photos of their work once they’re done.  We’ve been using about two hours a day of class time, but I think it’s well worth it.

Also, I’m trying really hard to be at the door to greet everyone when they come in with a hug/handshake/high-five. (They get to choose.) For as long as I taught 7th and 8th grade, it’s different getting voluntary hugs from 6th graders! To be honest, it gives me an emotional boost, too!

I’ve also started what will (hopefully) be my last two semesters of graduate school. This semester, I’m taking two electives that will hopefully be ‘easier’ – Digital Literacy, and Multimedia in the Classroom. I’m looking forward to them both. Embedded below is my first assignment for DigiLit…a “PowerPoint” (Google Presentation) About Me! Until next time, keep a song in your heart!
